The ground has a quiet presence in the Jatobá neighbourhood of Sobral. It sits close to the road, with trees and houses visible from the surrounding streets, so visitors know they have arrived before they reach the gate.

Estádio Municipal Plácido Aderaldo Castelo is the full name, but the locals call it Estádio do Junco or Juncão. It opened in 1970 and has belonged to Guarany de Sobral ever since. The pitch is natural grass, and the surface has seen many seasons, including the 2000 state final that was held here for the first time outside the capital.

One match stands out in the records. The stadium is small enough that the connection between the side and the stand is direct.

The ground is distinct from the Arena Castelão in Fortaleza, which shares a similar name but is a different venue altogether.
