Estadio Nacional de Fútbol

The Estadio Nacional de Fútbol sits inside the grounds of the UNAN, Nicaragua's national university, and that address explains a good deal about how it functions: a football venue folded into a campus rather than standing apart from a city skyline. It opened on 14 April 2011 as the first stadium in the country to carry FIFA's approval, which made it the natural home for the national team and gave Nicaraguan football a ground that met a standard nothing built before it had reached.

Managua had used the site for baseball as much as football over the years, and in December 2022 the municipality renamed it Estadio Nacional Soberanía, a change that sat alongside the ground's football identity rather than replacing it in everyday use. FENIFUT runs the venue, and three sides share it on a regular basis: the senior national team, Juventus Managua, and CD Walter Ferretti, along with UNAN Managua's own side, given the ground's place on university land.

Capacity runs to 15,000, modest by regional standards, and the pitch is artificial turf rather than grass, a practical choice for a ground that has to absorb the wear of multiple tenants through the year. There is talk in Managua of a larger project, a rebuild under the name Dignidad that would push capacity toward 23,000 by 2028, but that belongs to a stadium not yet built rather than the one standing on Pista de la UNAN today.
