It appeared in 2003 as a dedicated project for the Pan American Games. The surface is Bermuda grass, laid down fresh in April 2022 after a renovation that included new drainage and irrigation systems.
There is a difference between the capacity printed in the books and the reality of a Sunday match.
The venue is currently preparing for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games. Rugby 7 installations are taking up space, and the logistics for football matches have become complicated. The stadium is still here.
