Estadio Príncipe Felipe

Cáceres, Spain

The Estadio Príncipe Felipe sits on the edge of Cáceres where the industrial park bleeds into dry scrubland, a long driveway cutting through olive trees to reach the white perimeter wall.

It is not a fashionable venue, but its isolation gives it a specific rhythm on matchdays. The highway hums in the distance behind the away section, and the wind comes straight through from the open fields. The surface is natural grass, kept in condition by a drainage system installed during the last summer’s major works for Club Polideportivo Cacereño .

On rare occasions, the ground changes its character entirely. The concrete floodstands are rolled out to accommodate the crowds that arrive when a major fixture comes to town, as happened in January 2023 when the stadium hosted a round of 32 match against Real Madrid. The official attendance record for that day is 14,000 spectators, a figure that stretched the space beyond its permanent 7,000-seat limit.

The stadium has also hosted international concerts, where the floodlights turn to face the stage rather than the pitch. It does not pretend to be anything other than a working venue in Extremadura, built in 1977 and maintained by local hands.
