Stadium
Estadio Reales Tamarindos
Portoviejo, Ecuador
Two dates float around for the opening of the Estadio Reales Tamarindos, and Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Portoviejo's own account — 7 June 1970 — is the one worth keeping, ahead of the 4 October figure that turns up elsewhere. Either way, the ground has stood in Portoviejo, capital of Manabí province, for over half a century, at the junction of Avenida Universitaria and César Chávez Cañarte.
The pitch is natural grass. Reales Tamarindos takes its name from the tamarind trees once common to the area.
What the record does not offer is a history of reconstruction, no attendance figures worth citing, no earlier name to set against the current one.
