Finch Farm

The ground does not host first-team matches, yet it carries the weight of a club that plays at Goodison Park. Finch Farm operates as a training complex, but it has seen competitive fixtures in its own right: behind-closed-doors friendlies for Everton’s Under-16s, Under-18s, and U21 side. The main pitch, used for those matches, is flanked by two covered tiered terraces. Between them sits a total of 255 seats, the largest concentration of spectator infrastructure on the site.

The facility occupies greenbelt land in Halewood on the Merseyside side of the Liverpool City Region. Finch Nurseries closed on the site in 2002, and the ground opened on October 9, 2007. The stadium complex includes an indoor pitch laid in 2018, a synthetic turf pitch, and a half-size goalkeeper pitch. One of the ten full-size grass pitches has undersoil heating and matches the dimensions of the club’s matchday venue.

Ownership has shifted since the ground was built. Liverpool City Council purchased the site in 2013 and Everton F.C. has operated it under a long-term lease ever since. The club was renamed USM Finch Farm in January 2017 following a sponsorship agreement with USM Holdings, but that name was suspended in March 2022 after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, reverting the ground to Finch Farm.

A worker died during construction in 2006 or 2007 when a guard rail gave way. The ground is not used for public concerts, and the city has since provided a £4 million loan for improvements to the indoor pitch.
