Fohlenplatz

The Fohlenplatz does not compete for headlines, but it holds a specific place in the hierarchy of Borussia Mönchengladbach's infrastructure. Unlike the main Borussia-Park , which hosted the club's first-team matches from its 2004 opening, this younger sibling serves a different purpose. It is the home for the youth squads, primarily the U19 side in the U19-Nachwuchsliga and the U17 team. The ground sits within the training complex at Hennes-Weisweiler-Allee 1, in the Hardt-Mitte district.

Its identity is tied to the club's history rather than grandeur. Named after the traditional nickname 'Die Fohlen' (The Foals), it has never undergone a name change, remaining a constant reference point for the academy's development. The facility opened on 1 May 2013, marked by an inauguration match against 1. FC Kaiserslautern that drew 2,940 spectators.

The playing surface is a hybrid system, specifically FiberElastic, which replaced an earlier FiberSand hybrid surface installed around 2012. While the main stadium dominates the city's landscape, the Fohlenplatz operates quietly, nurturing the next generation of talent without the noise of the big stage.
