Futbalový štadión Prievidza

The main stand at the Futbalový štadión Prievidza is a concrete structure. A single flight of stairs cuts across the face to the pitch level. The club that calls this ground home has changed its name so often that the old ones have faded, but the matchday routine has not. The 2018–2019 rebuild wiped out the old standing terraces and raised the covered stand to UEFA Category 2, replacing every seat and adding a new control room. The sandblasted steel was treated with anti-corrosion paint, and a heating system with three branches now keeps the concrete warm. Before the reconstruction, the stadium hosted a friendly between the Slovakia national team and Slovenia in 1993 and the 1986 Slovak Cup final between Spartak Trnava and ZVL Žilina. Those matches were played on natural grass, watered by an automatic irrigation system, and they sit in memory alongside the current 7,500 capacity split between 2,500 seated and 5,000 standing places.

FC Baník Prievidza still plays its home fixtures here, where the history between the club and the stand adds an edge to every afternoon. The club has operated under various names including MFK Prievidza, FK Petrimex Prievidza, HFK Prievidza, and FK Mesto Prievidza, yet the ground remains the constant through all the rebrands.
