The complex is a collection of structures spread across the district of Johannedal.

The bandy field is part of the complex. The artificial refrigeration keeps the ice firm, but the surrounding grass is often covered in deep drifts, showing where players have ventured off the board.

Inside the main hall, the atmosphere is more contained. The renovation in 2009 stripped back the seating, reducing the capacity and leaving the space feeling less crowded. The boards are lined with advertisements, but the focus is on the ice itself. It is here that the local hockey team plays, the sound of sticks on plastic echoing off the metal roof. The transition from the bright, cold outdoors to the artificial light inside is abrupt. There is a small press box overlooking the action, but it feels more like an observation post than a grandstand.

The complex also houses a curling hall and an indoor football arena, but neither is as immediately visible as the ice rink. The football hall, with its artificial grass, is a bright contrast to the white of the winter outside. It is a place of mixed uses, hosting everything from local hockey matches to large-scale music events. The proximity to the forest means that the weather is always a factor; when the wind picks up, it howls around the edges of the buildings. It is a functional space, built for sport rather than spectacle, where the focus remains on the game being played on the surface.
