Guaranteed Rate Field

Guaranteed Rate Field has seen its identity shift in step with the city's commercial landscape. It opened as New Comiskey Park in 1991, replacing the ground that had stood for decades before it. By 2003, the naming rights had passed to the telecommunications company, becoming U.S. Cellular Field. The most recent change occurred in late 2024, when the contract for Guaranteed Rate was not renewed, and the venue reverted to Rate Field.

Between 2001 and 2007, a major renovation project cost $118 million. The capacity has settled at 40,615 since the 2004 season, following these changes.

The stadium has hosted major events beyond baseball, including concerts by The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen, and a record-setting attendance for a Chance the Rapper concert in 2016. However, its primary reputation rests on its sports history, including hosting the 2005 World Series.
