Guldensporenstadion

The Guldensporenstadion takes its name not from a sponsor but from the Battle of the Golden Spurs, fought in Kortrijk on 11 July 1302.

The ground itself went up in the years right after the Second World War, replacing an older stand on the same plot. Work began in May 1946 and the stadium opened in August 1947, designed by Maurice Delahousse .

A late-1980s expansion pushed it up toward 15,000. A new stand went up in 2008, taking capacity from 6,896 to the current 9,399, including standing room for 3,650.

In March 2022 it hosted its first-ever fixture between two senior national teams, South Africa and Guinea, who played out a goalless draw. KV Kortrijk's one Belgian Cup final appearance, in 2012, was played away from home at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels rather than here.
