Hala Lodowa MOSiR

Oświęcim, Poland

The Hala Lodowa MOSiR in Oświęcim is a multi-purpose ice arena. The arena opened in 1964 to a capacity of 2,686, though sources vary on totals including standing room, and the figure has never been broken in a competitive match.

What distinguishes the hall from the city’s other sports facilities is its single purpose: ice. The full-size rink measures 30 by 60 metres. A lighting system reconstruction was completed in 2018, and in 2022 the city allocated 1 million PLN for new boards to meet PZHL regulations. An architectural competition for a major modernization and expansion was held in 2023, won by M.O.C. Architekci, with the project funded with 2.5 million PLN for design. The plan includes a second training rink with 320 seats and a renovation of the main hall to increase total capacity to approximately 3,500–3,600, with the technical design expected to be completed by mid-2025.

The most recent high-profile event took place on October 22, 2024, when the 2024 Polish Super Cup (Superpuchar Polski) final was hosted at the hall. Unia Oświęcim defeated GKS Tychy 3:2 in overtime, with the winning goal scored by Christopher Liljewall in the 65th minute. The match was broadcast on TVP Sport. A charity match on November 15, 2019, was described as filled to capacity, though no official attendance record for a competitive match was found.
