Jastor

Jastor is the indoor hall where JKH GKS Jastrzębie plays. It sits on Aleja Jana Pawła II 6A and belongs to the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre (MOSIR). The club plays in the Polska Hokej Liga, so the venue is a working place for professional ice hockey rather than a landmark.

The surface is ice, kept cold by YORK cooling units. This technical detail explains why the building is sealed and heated rather than open to the air. The original rink was outside when it opened in 1975. A roof was added later to turn it into an indoor arena. The stands were built around the rink at that time, giving the space its current shape. The capacity is roughly 1,884 spectators, though the exact number varies depending on whether you count the standing room. The hall has hosted more than just local matches. It held a qualifying tournament for the 2014 Winter Olympics women's ice hockey competition in September 2012, bringing international teams to the town. The club has won the Polish Ice Hockey Cup (Puchar Polski) several times, with the finals played at Jastor. A major modernization began in 2024 to improve energy efficiency. The club is closing in on a deal to secure the building's future. The academy graduate marked his first start in an arena that has seen generations of players. It is a solid, functional place where the game is played.
