JobServe Community Stadium

Colchester United left Layer Road for good in August 2008, moving to United Way, Myland , a patch of land north of the city known as Cuckoo Farm. The first competitive fixture, against Huddersfield Town, was played at the new stadium.

The build itself was a council project as much as a football one — Colchester's city council carried the largest share of the cost through a loan, with the Football Foundation and local agencies covering the rest. Barr Construction, brought down from Scotland, broke ground in the summer of 2007 and completed the work within about a year.
