Bukoba sits on the western shore of Lake Victoria, and the ground on Jamhuri Road. Kaitaba Stadium has stood there since 1976.
The most visible change came in 2022, when the ground was rehabilitated ahead of the finish of the Uhuru Torch race on 14 October that year. President Samia Suluhu Hassan attended the ceremony.
Its regular tenant is Kagera Sugar F.C. , who play in the Tanzanian Premier League, the Ligi Kuu Bara. Kaitaba has not staged Tanzanian Cup finals, national team matches or CAF club ties.
What fills the ground beyond football is worth noting. Nane Nane, the farmers' day marked on 8 August, brings people in, as do concerts and local celebrations.
