Kuressaare linnastaadion

For over three decades, the town around this ground carried a different name. From 1952 to 1988 it was Kingissepa, not Kuressaare — yet the stadium itself never adopted the change. It was known as Kuressaare staadion, or Kuressaare linna staadion, throughout.

The ground took shape through the mid-1950s. Construction began in 1955 under the town's repair-and-building authority, with brigade leader Peeter Kaerti and site manager Robert Mõlder overseeing the work, builder Johannes Sepp among the crew, and veteran athlete Paavo Vara pitching in. Much of it was unpaid public labour. It opened on 31 August 1958, timed to coincide with the Saare district's summer spartakiad.

The pitch has stayed natural grass throughout, even after a 2014 refit gave the surrounding running track a synthetic surface.

Its busiest day on record came on 3 July 2002, when Estonia's national team met Azerbaijan here in a friendly that finished goalless — still the best-attended fixture the ground has hosted.
