The main hall is built on a wooden parquet floor, which was replaced after a water leak in 2020 left the surface damaged.

The ground does not have a single identity. It was designed to host everything from chess matches to concerts and handball tournaments. It hosted the World Chess Championship in 1972, when the American challenger Bobby Fischer met the Soviet defender Boris Spassky. The same hall also hosted the League of Legends World Championship finals in 2021. It has seen Led Zeppelin and The Smashing Pumpkins. The capacity is not fixed; it is 2,300 for basketball, but 5,500 if you allow people to stand for a concert.

The adjacent athletics center was added much later, in 2005, with a 200-meter track. The main hall sits between the street and the open space. The venue has never been renamed for a sponsor. It is owned by the city.
