The building on Štefánikovo náměstí is a multifunctional arena. Logspeed CZ Aréna has always belonged to hockey.

It began as an open-air rink in 1950 on the site of the city’s former cattle market. The community covered it between 1966 and 1970, suspending a roof on cables that held for decades until the 2002-2005 modernization. That renovation paid for a new exterior and a multimedia cube, and it prepared the arena for the 2005 IIHF World U18 Championships, the first major international tournament held there. A fire caused by a flare in 1992 was an early reminder that the away end never stopped, even when the building was new. The capacity is listed at 7,356, though the numbers vary between sources; the crowd tends to fill the lower tiers regardless of the figure printed on the ticket. A statue stands in the plaza outside, a silent witness to the fans who have gathered there for half a century. The arena has hosted concerts by ZZ Top and Alice Cooper, but the schedule always returns to the ice. HC Škoda Plzeň plays their home games here, and the board advertisements for sponsors like Billa and Tipsport change more often than the team colours.
