At Marden Sports Complex, the Adelaide Blue Eagles and Adelaide United Women share the turf. Built between 1999 and 2000, the complex was established without a dime of government money. The result is a place that feels like a community hall for football rather than a corporate arena.

What stands out most is the hill. The capacity of 6,000 is split between roughly 2,500 seats under a covered stand on one side and the rest spread out on the grass bank opposite. Spectators can sit or stand on the incline, watching the floodlights cut through the Adelaide night. The natural grass pitch has held up well through two decades of use, hosting everything from local NPL affairs to high-profile cup ties. The lights are bright enough to make the evening matches feel like a proper occasion, drawing crowds that occasionally outnumber the town's usual evening activity.

The complex has a habit of catching big teams off guard. In the FFA Cup, Adelaide United have pulled off wins here against Wellington Phoenix, Western Sydney Wanderers, and Melbourne Victory, all while playing on a surface that feels miles away from the professional training grounds. The Matildas also played here during the 2006 AFC Women's Asian Cup, beating Thailand 5-0 when the world was watching. More recently, the women’s side drew 1,105 fans for a 2021 match against Melbourne Victory, proving the hill still draws people who want to see something different. The men’s team once set the all-time record here with 3,342 spectators for their own clash with Melbourne Victory in 2017. It is not a pretty place, but it is honest.
