Mennaye Field
Penzance, United Kingdom
Mennaye Field The Borough of Penzance bought the site in 1945 so the two local clubs could play in the same place. It has not changed its name since.
The ground is defined by the weather. The drains matter more than the seats. In 2019 the pitch was dug up completely; channels were cut every three metres, pipes laid down, and the whole thing reseeded. The contractor was a local firm from Hayle. They did it because the rain stops the ball.
The Cornish Pirates returned here in 2010 after a few years playing at temporary venues near Truro and Camborne. The capacity is 4,000, though only 2,200 are seated. It is a working field for a team that plays in the Championship.
There is no separate website for the stadium. You have to go to the club page to find out when the next match is. The ground is ordinary, but it is the only one in Penzance. It is still here, and the grass is still green, mostly because the drainage works held up.
