Mombasa Municipal Stadium

Mombasa, Kenya

Formerly: Aga Khan Stadium

The ground sits at a junction in Mkomani. It has been there since 1955, built by the Aga Khan Community and handed to the Council of Mombasa soon after. It was renamed the Mombasa Municipal Stadium then. It is the only stadium of its kind in the city, and its location on Ronald Ngala Road.

The pitch is natural grass. The stands are low and simple. It is currently being rebuilt to meet FIFA standards for the AFCON 2019 tournament, a project that has taken years. The new capacity is set at 15,000.

The most famous match played here was in 1995, when Gor Mahia defeated Bandari FC 3-0 to win the title.
