Municipal Stadium of Karditsa "Antigoni Ntrismpioti"
Karditsa, Greece
Formerly: Municipal Stadium of Karditsa
The ground that took 14,000 people for a Greek Cup tie against Olympiakos in December 1994 now holds 3,500. Anagennisi Karditsa won that match, and it remains the fixture the ground is known by.
The stadium had been in use for four decades before it acquired anything permanent in concrete: the first concrete stand went up in the mid-1970s, and Anagennisi had already been playing there since 1949. The same year the stadium took a second name, «Antigoni Ntrismpioti», after the race walker from Karditsa who had become a double European champion. It stands on Larisis Street, which the city now calls Leoforos Dimokratias — the address has changed name more recently than the ground has changed shape.
In 2022 the pitch was rebuilt as hybrid grass with an irrigation system laid in beneath it, replacing the natural surface that had served since the beginning.
