NEKA Sportcsarnok

The NEKA Sportcsarnok does not offer the scale of a major football club. It is a functional indoor arena in Balatonboglár, built for a different kind of game.

The structure is defined by its purpose. It opened in June 2016 as the home for the National Handball Academy. The building is not a monument to history but a hub for training. Three courts fill the interior, their surfaces capable of shifting between handball, badminton and volleyball configurations. The capacity is modest, holding 678 spectators on stands that can be moved to suit the event. There is no record of a higher number.

The NEKA men's and women's teams played here for years, competing in the Hungarian NB I and NB I/B leagues. However, the limitations of the hall eventually outweighed its benefits. In August 2024, the men's top-tier squad moved their home matches to Siófok, citing the lack of spectator facilities.

The venue still hosts matches. It welcomed teams from Veszprém and Budapest, and it has seen the occasional European giants like Ferencvárosi TC during the Champions League. It also stages youth tournaments, the Four Nations Tournament being one such occasion. These events draw small crowds, often under 200 people.
