Novo Estádio Godofredo Cruz

In the Guarus neighborhood of Campos dos Goytacazes, a new structure is rising on a plot of nearly 200,000 square meters. This is the Novo Estádio Godofredo Cruz, a complex that includes a stadium, a training center, and a social club. It stands where the original Estádio Godofredo Cruz once dominated the skyline.

The old ground was a different beast altogether. With a capacity that once reached 25,000, it held crowds far larger than the 11,000 planned for the replacement. The original was inaugurated on January 24, 1954, with an opening match between Goytacaz and Bangu, which Bangu won 4–1. It was owned and operated by Americano Futebol Clube until the end. The site was cleared following a 'permuta' agreement signed in 2013, and work on the new facility began in earnest after the demolition.

Construction has been a long road. The main contractor, Imbeg Engenharia, has faced significant delays due to legal disputes and structural issues, including reported delays in steel structures in March 2025. The target for 100% completion and delivery is July 2026. The estimated total investment for the complex was R$ 26.7 million. While the new stadium is under construction, the club has played home matches at other venues such as Moacyrzão in Cardoso Moreira or the Goytacaz stadium.

The new venue will feature natural grass and is located at Avenida Professora Carmem Carneiro, 466. No inauguration match for the new stadium has taken place as of the latest reports. This ground will be the only one of its scale in the town.
