Nuevo Estadio de Los Cármenes

Granada's stadium exists in a permanent state of half-finish, and that history is the story worth telling. The current ground opened on 16 May 1995, built to replace the original Estadio Los Cármenes, which had stood since 1934 and was demolished eight years after the new arena took its name. Capacity has moved in both directions since: 22,524 in August 2011, cut to 19,436 once temporary stands came down in 2017, then back up to 21,600 in August 2024 after supplementary seating went into the four corners again. Granada CF are weighing up a further expansion, to 30,000, targeted for 2026.

The 2019 refit, timed to the club's return to La Liga, replaced the floodlights with LED units, relaid the pitch with Bermuda Latitude 36 turf, repainted the seating and added a club shop — a modernisation built around a ground that had otherwise changed only in stand count for two decades.

Beyond league football, Los Cármenes has hosted the Spanish national side, including Xavi's 2011 farewell match, and an Andalusia representative fixture. It staged the opening ceremony of the 1996 Alpine Skiing World Championships and the 2019 Copa de la Reina final. In June 2024 the ground turned concert venue, with Saiko drawing roughly 23,000 across a single night — more than the stadium's own football capacity at the time. Women's football set its attendance mark there on 17 March 2024, at 8,500.
