Oosting Arena

The Oosting Arena operates with a quiet efficiency that belies its age. Opened in 1985, the hall sits in the Angelslo district, where the local handball club, HV E&O, has made its home for decades.

It was originally known as Sporthal Angelslo and later Harwig Arena before taking on its current name, the Oosting Arena, named after a local sponsor. The interior has seen upgrades over the years, including new IT infrastructure for major qualifiers, but the character of the hall remains unchanged: a focused, intimate space for close-range action.

For visitors, the location is not immediately obvious. There are no grand entrances or sweeping vistas; instead, the arena is tucked away. The venue has hosted significant matches, including a qualifier against Latvia in 2023, but these events are marked more by the intensity of the competition than by any spectacle.

The Oosting Arena is not a landmark of Emmen in the traditional sense. It is not a cathedral of football or a monument to leisure. It is a working sports hall, a place where the local team plays its home games and where the city's handball community gathers.
