Ostravar Aréna
Ostrava, Czechia
Formerly: Palace of Culture and Sport, ČEZ Aréna, Ostrava Aréna
The Ostravar Aréna presents itself as an imposing structure in the Zábřeh district.
Inside, the space has shifted its focus over time. While the original intention centred on ice hockey, the current sightlines reveal a complex interior where the blue seating of the tennis tournament sits alongside the white ice for the local club, HC Vítkovice Ridera. A major renovation in 2004 added a distinct three-story extension to the side. The original white seats were replaced with blue in 2012.
The venue has endured through a cycle of name changes that reflect the commercial landscape of the city. It holds a place in the region for major tournaments, including the IIHF World Championship games, where the capacity tightens to accommodate broadcast requirements.
