IF Gnistan shifted the rest of that season's home fixtures to the Töölö stadium while the site was cleared.
The pitch has its own history of change. What was grass until 2006 became heated artificial turf that year, paid for by Intrum Justitia — hence the old name, Fair Pay Areena — and laid again in 2023.
Gnistan took over running the ground from the city in 2017, though ownership stayed shared, and the club has needed the extra capacity: when HJK Helsinki came to Oulunkylä on 28 July 2025 for the Helsinki derby, 3,113 people turned up, a new attendance record for the ground. HJK won 4-2.
