The design came from Eng. Portilha. The name is used loosely in practice — Estádio Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas in the official register, Estádio do Moreirense in most conversation about it, all three referring to the same pitch of natural grass.

What the ground does not have is a life of its own on paper. There is no dedicated site for it, and the club's own pages fold it into the history of the sporting village rather than giving it a technical entry.
