That day was 20 September 2008, when Cerrito hosted Huracán Buceo in a Segunda División fixture and won 3-0 — the first result recorded on the new pitch. The natural grass surface laid down then has remained the playing surface ever since.
The ground sits on Bulevar Aparicio Saravia, at the corner with Avenida Búrgues.
