PART Arena

The concrete frame of PART Arena dominates the view, cradled by the cranes that are still busy with the maintenance work. This is the building that was Fururinken until the summer of 2017, when the club reworked the interior from top to bottom. The new concrete slab sits beneath the ice. It is a working building, not a monument, and the signs of that work are visible even from the outside.

Inside, the geometry of the stands is steep, designed for the sound of skates cutting into the ice. The surface is artificial, a hard, fast sheet that suits the pace of Hockeyettan. Kalix HC plays here, and the club brings in the Stora DM for the junior championship every September. The crowd is small enough that the noise travels everywhere; the 2,100 seated and 300 standing places mean there is no hiding. The light from the ceiling floods the ice, and the plexiglass walls are clear, not tinted.

The renovation added a VIP lounge and a new sound system, but the bones of the place remain the same. You can see the wear on the seats and the scuff marks on the boards near the benches. It is a functional space, built for the winter months in Norrbotten, where the cold outside keeps the interior cool enough that no extra cooling is needed.

There is no attempt to make it look like a European football stadium. The layout is rectangular, the viewing angles are sharp, and the atmosphere is intimate. The arena does not attract tourists; it serves the town. The official site lists the details, but the reality is in the concrete and the ice.
