Paxtakor Markaziy Stadioni
Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Formerly: Central Stadium Pakhtakor
Paxtakor Central Stadium carries a quiet weight in Tashkent. It opened in 1956, a year after construction began with volunteer labour, and the look of it has shifted since then, but the shape remains.
The surface is natural grass, replaced in 2012 with a system from Queens Grass International to meet European standards, and further work began in 2025 to bring the ground fully into line with FIFA requirements.
Capacity sits at 35,000 according to most databases, though the club’s own site lists 34,000. The stand that once held that crowd is now full of plastic seats, and the terraces are gone.
FC Pakhtakor play their home fixtures here, and the stadium also hosts AFC Champions League matches.
The design came from the Soviet architect Mithat Sagatdinovich Bulatov, and the original opening match featured Pakhtakor against Dinamo Tbilisi. The first international fixture against Dinamo Tirana followed a month later.
