Pervomaysky
Penza, Russia
The ground sits in the southeastern part of Penza. Pervomaisky Stadium opened in June 2007, replacing an older municipal facility that had been registered in 1997 at ul. Kalinina, 119. The two stands hold 2,550 seats each, giving a total capacity of 5,120.
The playing surface is a hybrid pitch, currently undergoing renovation with a new artificial base and natural grass overlay. Originally, the stadium featured an artificial football pitch installed in 2007, which was modernized with a heating system in November 2019. The complex covers over 8 hectares and includes two football fields, tennis courts, and a running track.
Since 2019, the venue has been the home ground for the rugby club Lokomotiv-Penza. It also hosts various youth competitions and major tournaments. Notable events include the III Summer Spartakiad of Schoolchildren of Russia in 2007, the first live sports broadcast in Russia following the initial COVID-19 lockdown in June 2020 (a Rugby Championship match between Locomotiv-Penza and VVA-Podmoskovye), and matches of the Rugby Europe Super Cup in October 2021. The stadium hosted group stage matches against Black Lion (Georgia) and Enisei-STM. The record attendance was recorded on September 25, 2021, during the Rugby Europe Super Cup match between Locomotiv-Penza and Enisei-STM, with approximately 5,000 spectators filling the stands. A major renovation costing over 32 million rubles is currently underway to upgrade the main football field.
