PNC Park

PNC Park sits on the banks of the Allegheny River, where the outfield opens directly towards the water. The view of the Pittsburgh skyline is a constant presence for anyone watching the game.

The stadium was designed in a retro-classic style, featuring limestone facades and steel truss work. Inside, the playing surface is natural grass, specifically Tuckahoe Bluegrass, covering the field. The warning track is made of crushed lava rock from Utah.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have played here since 2001, replacing their former venue. The stadium was built to honour the city's history, including statues of legends like Honus Wagner and Roberto Clemente. It was the first stadium to feature an out-of-town scoreboard showing scores from all other MLB games, though this was temporarily removed for advertising before being reinstated following fan outcry.

Construction was managed by a joint venture, with funding coming from a mix of public and private sources. The site has seen minor updates over the years, including recent renovations to concourses and concessions. The ground hosted the 2006 MLB All-Star Game, drawing a large crowd for the midsummer classic.
