Constructed in 1983, the ground carries the weight of its age in its utilitarian design. It was built under the Ministry of Sport, a fact that shows in the robust concrete terraces rather than in any attempt at grandeur. The stadium has served many clubs, most notably Hajer Club and Al-Adalah FC, though it once hosted Al-Fateh FC before they moved to a newer venue in 2023. The pitch itself is natural grass, worn slightly in the centre circle, marked with white lines that have faded in the heat.

The stands are not close. The blue seats in the main stand are separated from the touchline by the full width of the running track. This distance gives the ground a specific quality; the noise from the away end never really seems to reach the players. The seating is divided into sections, some painted a faded yellow, others a deeper green, creating a patchwork effect that speaks to decades of maintenance rather than renovation.

International football has found its way here, most recently when the Syrian national team played their Asian Cup qualifiers in March 2025. They secured a victory over Pakistan on this same grass, a result kept quiet by the absence of a large crowd. The ground is not known for its atmosphere, but for its function. It is a place where matches are played, not necessarily where they are remembered. The capacity figures vary, with reports ranging from 19,000 to nearly 28,000, but on a typical Saturday, the stands rarely fill beyond a third. The real memory of this place lies in a single day in May 2016, when 60,051 people packed into the concrete bowl to watch Al-Ahli beat Al-Fateh 3–2. That figure is an outlier, a moment when the town came together, rather than the norm.
