Prince Nayef Sports City Stadium

Al-Taraji and Al-Khaleej share the ground, which tells you most of what matters about it: this is a working stadium for a working city on the Gulf coast, not a showcase. No opening date survives in the record, no architect, no rebuild story — the kind of gap that usually means a stadium built for local use and never written up for anyone outside it.

What does hold is the naming. It carries Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz's name as well as the Sports City tag, the sort of double identity common to Saudi venues built as part of a wider sporting complex rather than as a stand-alone ground. The 12,000-seat capacity places it well below the Kingdom's international venues, in the bracket built for regional league football rather than continental fixtures.

It has stepped outside that regional role at least once: the 2025 Asian U20 Athletics Championships were held here, putting a running track to use alongside the football pitch — natural turf, laid out on Dhahran Jubail Branch Road in the Ar Rimal district, on the edge of Qatif's built-up area rather than in its centre.
