PSD Bank Nürnberg Arena

The arena’s most distinct feature is its conversion from a hockey rink to a concert hall. Opened in 2001 to host the IIHF World Championship, the arena was built to replace the old Linde-Stadion. Its primary tenant is the Nürnberg Ice Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), who have played there since the facility first opened its doors. The surface beneath their skates is ice, but for other events, the floor is covered with temporary hard court or sports flooring. This flexibility allows the venue to host handball matches for the local club HC Erlangen and basketball games for Bamberg Baskets, which has brought in EuroLeague fixtures since 2015. The arena was distinct from the nearby football ground, which is currently called the Max-Morlock-Stadion. A major renovation took place in 2011, described as an anniversary project, though the details of the work were not found in the records.
