Rajamangala Stadium

The ground inside is natural grass, surrounded by a running track that separates the pitch from the seating areas. Plastic seats fill the stands, a change made in preparation for the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, though the original concrete steps remain visible in the higher tiers.

Built for the 1998 Asian Games, the stadium was named to honour King Bhumibol Adulyadej. It was designed by the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University and constructed by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), which still operates the venue today. Football clubs and the national team have used the ground for matches, including a friendly against Liverpool F.C. that drew a large crowd. It has also hosted the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2007 Summer Universiade and the 2012 Race of Champions.

The stadium stands as a distinct landmark in the city, separate from the older Suphachalasai Stadium. It is not merely a venue for sport, but a place that hosts major concerts and events throughout the year. The SAT announced a redevelopment project in 2024 to modernise the facilities, aiming to turn the site into a smart stadium with IoT-driven lighting and AI-powered security. The work is ongoing, and the building continues to serve Bangkok as a central point for large gatherings.
