What there is, is Khor Fakkan itself — a fishing and container-port town on the Gulf of Oman coast, cut off from the rest of Sharjah by the Hajar mountains, and this arena is the only senior football ground the town has. Khor Fakkan FC, known in an earlier era as Al Khaleej, lifted the UAE Federation Cup in the 1993–94 season and reached the final of the President's Cup in 1986–87 — the two high points of a club whose home this has been throughout.
