ScottsMiracle-Gro Field is not the club's first home. It opened on 15 May 1999 as Columbus Crew Stadium.
HNTB handled the design, and Turner Construction Company built it as part of a joint venture. The playing surface is natural grass.
The record crowd did not arrive for a Crew match at all. On 24 July 2024, the ground hosted the MLS All-Star Game against Liga MX All-Stars, and 20,931 supporters got in — more than the stadium's own listed capacity.
