Sharar Haidar Stadium sits on the western bank of the Tigris River in the Al-Mansour neighbourhood. The pitchside area tells a different story.

The stadium has lived through several identities. It opened as the Al-Mansour Local Administration Stadium before being taken over by Al-Rasheed SC in 1984 and renamed Al-Rasheed Stadium. When that club dissolved, it became Al-Karkh Stadium in 1990. In June 2020, it was renamed Al-Saher Ahmed Radhi Stadium in honour of the late Iraqi legend Ahmed Radhi, who played for the national team between 1989 and 1992. In January 2026, following the death of Sharar Haidar, a former player and president of Al-Karkh who had passed away in 2023, the ground received its current name. Haidar was appointed chairman of Al-Karkh SC in 2003.

The playing surface is natural grass, which has been maintained through renovations in 2004 and 2017.
