Stadium
Shiranami Stadium
Kagoshima, Japan
Formerly: Kagoshima Kamoike Stadium
Shiranami Stadium does not pretend to be anything other than a multi-purpose arena, and that honesty shows in its layout.
The surface is natural grass, worn smooth by a decade of rugby and football matches.
The stadium opened in the early seventies, though the exact year is a matter of record rather than memory. It has seen the South African Springboks train under the open sky, and it has hosted the local high school finals. The name changed in 2018, but the structure remains the same. It is not a cathedral for football, but it is a working ground.
