Sportanlage im Brand Platz 2

The stand at Sportanlage im Brand Platz 2 did not start life in Thalwil. It came down from Breite in Schaffhausen and was re-erected here in 2019, and it is that transplanted structure that sets the ground's capacity at 1,500 — a figure that dates from the move rather than from anything the club built for itself.

The name needs unpicking. Im Brand is a complex, not a single ground, and Platz 2 is one pitch within it; older references drop the number altogether and call the place Stadion im Brand, or simply im Brand. The address is on Bodenstrasse, on the lake side of Zurich's southern suburbs.

What the pitch is made of changed recently. The natural grass was lifted in 2025 and replaced with artificial turf, and the rebuilt surface was formally opened as Brand 2 on 27 June 2026. In practice that means a pitch that carries a full weekly load: FC Thalwil, founded in 1918, put both their first team and their reserves on it, and the ground doubles as a venue for children's football weeks, among them the FCZ Kids Camp and the Swisscom Football Camps.

Big occasions are rare. No national-team fixture or major final has been staged here. The one match people still bring up is a Swiss Cup tie against FC St., which sold out — a modest number by the standards of the competition, but enough to fill the Schaffhausen stand and the banks around it, and the sort of afternoon a ground of this size gets once in a long while.
