Športová hala Prievidza
Prievidza, Slovakia
Formerly: Mestská športová hala, Športová hala Prievidza
Športová hala Prievidza opened in 1977 and has held that name for most of its life; it is now officially Niké Aréna following a sponsorship deal with the Slovak bookmaker Niké, though locals still call it by the older title. The wooden parquet floor is 46 metres by 23, a standard size for European basketball, and the 3,400 capacity is split between seated and standing areas.
The arena hosts matches in the Slovak Extraliga for both basketball, played by BC Prievidza, and volleyball, with VK Prievidza. It has also staged concerts, including a performance by Richard Müller in 2018 and the band Olympic on their Respect Tour in 2023. The building underwent a major renovation in 2009, followed by a court resurfacing and electrical upgrade in 2023. The main entrance faces Olympionikov 2, and the address is sometimes recorded as Olympionikov 462/2.
The building does not pretend to be a cathedral; it is a working hall, and it has served its purpose for more than forty years.
