Where the ground is different is in the way the two clubs have shared it since the rebuild. Before 2012, the park held separate sets of stands for HZVV and VV Hoogeveen, built in different decades and separated by a football pitch. That merging of teams into one space gives the place its shape.

Behind the main stand, the club building was completed in 2012, a modern brick block with large windows facing the pitch. The surface is artificial turf, uniform in colour and cut short, with the white lines marking the 18-yard box and penalty area sharply against the green.

The park sits on land that was once peatland, a fact that explains the flatness of the terrain and the way the ground holds water after rain. HZVV arrived here in 1953, moving from old pitches after years of negotiation. VV Hoogeveen followed later, and the two clubs shared the facilities until the rebuild merged them into a single complex. Today, the main stadium hosts matches for VV Hoogeveen, while HZVV continues to use the grounds on a day-to-day basis. The capacity is 6,000, though the history of the site suggests that figures from earlier decades were perhaps more modest.

When the new turf was laid in late August and early September 2022 by Intergrass, it was expected to last around ten seasons. The change was made after the old surface had taken years of use. The park also hosts youth teams from the Netherlands, both boys and girls, for international fixtures. It is not a place built for spectacle, but it has served its community for decades, and the new stands reflect that continuity rather than a break with the past.
