Sportpark Het Schenge

Goes, Netherlands

The name Sportpark Het Schenge carries the memory of a waterway that once cut through the land between Wolphaartsdijk and Zuid-Beveland. It is not a tribute to a person, and it has stayed the same since the complex opened in 1933. The ground sits at Geldeloozepad 1 in Goes, a town in the province of Zeeland.

There is a concrete stand on the site, known as the Maarten Rinkhoud-tribune, named after a former chairman of SSV '65. The capacity figures for it differ between sources. The Dutch Wikipedia lists 6,000 for the whole complex, while football databases cite 1,500 for the stand itself.

The pitch is natural grass. The local football club, VV GOES, plays on it. They are the oldest football club in Zeeland, having been founded in 1895, long before the park was built.

The complex has tired of just being a football ground. An Urban Sport Park was added recently, complete with a skatepark and a pump track built by Nine Yards.
