Stadium
Stade Gabriel-Montpied
Clermont-Ferrand, France
It opened on 30 December 1995 as a purpose-built arena, named for Gabriel Montpied, a former resistance member who served as the city's mayor from 1944 to 1973. When Clermont Foot reached Ligue 1, the ground did not meet the division's requirements outright, so a temporary 3,000-seat stand went up in 2021, pushing capacity toward 13,000. The pitch has had its own trouble: in 2023 the club replaced the turf entirely after it was found infected with Pyricularia fungus. Since 2004 the Clermont Auvergne Métropole authority has run the stadium rather than the club itself. There is no former name to account for; Montpied is the only one it has carried.
