Peace Park Progress sits on the Gisenyi hill above Makamba, and the name it carries now is not the one it opened with.
President Évariste Ndayishimye handed the stadium over formally in June 2022. Reports on when construction actually started disagree by two years, so the exact starting point stays an open question rather than a fact to print here.
The ground gives Makamba three tenants at once — Aigle Noir Makamba, LLB Amasipiri and Moso Sugar Company FC all call it home. Capacity figures have moved around depending on who is counting, settling at 23,000 in the most recent tallies after earlier documents put the number closer to 30,000.
