Stadion Borovo naselje
Vukovar, Croatia
The ground sits on Sportska ulica 20. It has never carried a sponsor’s name, but it will soon be gone to make way for the Stadion 12 hrvatskih redarstvenika. The history here stretches back to 1933 when the club, originally SK Bata, opened a pitch on this site; some accounts place the completion of the ground at 1937.
The war of 1991 left the stadium in ruins, and the current structure is the result of rebuilding.
The capacity is officially 6,000, but the memory of the ground runs deeper. Former players insist that 10,000 fans once packed into temporary stands for a friendly between Yugoslavia and Poland in April 1980, a figure that has never been matched since. The surface is natural grass. HNK Vukovar 1991 call this their home, though licensing difficulties have occasionally forced them to play away at Stadion HNK Cibalia in Vinkovci.
