Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium
Kota Bharu, Malaysia
Formerly: Stadium Negeri
The Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium sits on Jalan Mahmood in the centre of Kota Bharu, where the city meets the state of Kelantan. This shade has been the stadium’s identity since an upgrade in 2016, long after it opened in 1967.
Inside the perimeter, the pitch is natural grass, kept green under the stadium’s floodlights. The layout is compact.
The ground is the home of Kelantan The Real Warriors F.C., who play in the Malaysia Super League. They have also been joined here by Kelantan Red Warrior F.C. and Kelantan City F.C. The stadium has seen its fair share of local rivalry, particularly against Terengganu FA and Johor Darul Ta’zim. During those matches in 2012 and 2013, the stands were full to the brim, with 30,000 people watching. It has also hosted AFC Cup matches and a friendly against Myanmar in 2011.
Recent work on the ground has focused on the infrastructure. New drainage and electrical wiring were laid in 2024, alongside the turf.
